Overview

This refinery was completed in 2015 and is the first new refinery built in the United States in nearly 30 years. At a cost of over $400 million, the refinery processes approximately 20,000 barrels of Bakken crude oil per day.

Safety, Quality, and Responsiveness

Westwood was selected to perform the initial ALTA/NSPS Land Title survey on the 318-acre site. Having established a reputation for safety, quality, and responsiveness, Westwood was recommended by the developer’s partners to participate on the project team.

The project posed unique challenges, including surveying multiple ownership parcels and extensive utility locations. In addition, the project’s proximity to both a railway and river system created complexities that were necessary to address as part of the survey process.

Tight Schedules Required Close Collaboration

The project was performed on an accelerated timeline, requiring Westwood’s team of surveyors to work closely with the developer and project design team in order to ensure that project deliverables were completed on time, on budget, and in a quality manner.

Upon completion of the design, Westwood participated in various stages of project construction. As a large-scale industrial site, it was imperative that safety remain a paramount concern for all project staff. Westwood worked closely with the developer and their construction teams in order to coordinate construction efforts across the site.
