This 3.7-acre site was on a fast track to remove an existing building and design a new 2-story building plus a parking lot on a constrained site. Because of wetlands and elevations, grading to stay outside the wetland buffer zone was challenging, and with all the impervious material on this site, meeting the city’s stormwater requirements would not be straightforward.
Meeting Infiltration Requirements
Westwood designed the new building to the front of the lot and placed the parking lot between the wetland and retaining wall. To meet infiltration requirements, Westwood designed a rain garden to handle rain water from the roof and an underground pipe filtration system to handle the parking lot run-off and discharge rates to slow down the stormwater leaving the site.
Fast Track to Delivery
With surveying and civil engineering under one roof, Westwood was able to meet the fast-track schedule. Westwood turned plans around within a couple of months and project-start-date to opening was less than a year.
