Westwood completed master planning and civil engineering design for this 450 acre property in the center of Lakeville. Our team developed a PUD master plan for 1,081 units of housing; combining open spaces, a regional park, and neighborhoods that met the need for life cycle housing In Lakeville. The plan features a linear park system, a remeandered creek (built in cooperation with the DNR, County and the City), and wetland restoration areas, serving as the “centerpiece” of the project.
Westwood and the client developed a land-use plan and utility routing scheme to allow this development to move forward, and were successful in amending the city’s comprehensive plan and getting the PUD master plan approved.
The existing soil conditions and the elevated water table made this site particularly difficult to grade and balance. Our engineers worked closely with the client and the grading contractor to determine which areas were feasible for development, and how to best phase the project. This site had an especially aggressive timeline for the completion of plans and construction, and our team worked diligently to meet the client’s schedule.
