Westwood came into this project during a later phase, and the goal was to keep the theme and ambiance of the site. One of the client’s biggest goals was to “create value” and maintain the reputation of the community. We were able to use the project’s onsite bedrock to further enhance the neighborhood by creating landscaped limestone outcroppings and a first-of-its-kind pond infiltration system.
Existing bedrock elevations varied throughout the site, which required thoughtful planning of the trunk utility lines to minimize bedrock exaction and removal. Stormwater design included a large portion of the project where runoff was to be directed to undeveloped properties. Large infiltration ponds were necessary to avoid an increase of runoff to these downstream properties.
This project was a large area developed over a decade. Due to the diverse amounts of product (large lots as well as affordable lots), the development was able to perform well even in the economic downturn.
