University House and HUB Apartments

The HUB apartment was Phase I in a multiphase development near the Arizona State University campus. It is an 18-story, 269-unit residential building with 28,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space. Development under Phase I also included a two-story parking garage and a third-story amenity area with a pool, sports courts, and outdoor BBQ space. University House was phase II and is adjacent to the HUB. It is a 16-story residential building with 79 units. Westwood was engaged by the developer to assist in consistency of project planning and design after completing work on the HUB.
Aggressive Site Development
The stormwater retention tanks constructed for the HUB were located below the newer phase II University House footprint. Westwood’s team worked with the city and design team to create a conceptual plan that didn’t require relocation of the stormwater system. This new plan resulted in substantial savings on construction costs for the developer.
Because of the apartments’ close proximity to ASU campus, the team also worked with ASU’s Capital Programs Management Group to provide accessible paths through the high-rise development to the adjacent aquatics center and parking garage.
