John Knox Village – The Courtyards and The Meadows
- Civil Engineering
- Land Surveying
John Knox Village is widely recognized as the Greater Kansas City Area’s best and most comprehensive continuing care senior living retirement community. Westwood was brought in to provide civil engineering and land surveying services for the redevelopment of three major projects within the community. The projects include the West Parking Lot Development, The Courtyards, and The Meadows.
Working around Extensive Infrastructure
John Knox Village is an established continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Lee’s Summit, MO. Senior living projects are complex from a civil engineering standpoint due to their many moving parts and stakeholders. John Knox Village adds additional challenges because the project is a redevelopment of the facility that requires working around extensive existing infrastructure and residents. Demolition and reconstruction of site utilities, buildings and parking lots has to be taken into account when designing the site for new buildings and infrastructure. On projects such as this, the unexpected is inevitable and it is not unusual to find undocumented – or incorrectly documented – utilities and infrastructure which requires adjustments to the site design real time as they are encountered.
Quick and Responsive From a Distance
The Westwood team has to be responsive and quick to address and solve problems such as these. Technology is a great asset to the industry and Westwood is putting it to good use on the project as the team works both locally and remotely. The John Knox Village project highlights why clients choose Westwood’s experience and expertise in the senior living and multi-family market, even when the project is not local to the management and design team.
