Olson Estates Development
The 22-acre Olson Estates Development was Westwood’s first foray into North Dakota at the beginning of the oil boom. Planning for Phase 1 began fall 2008. The project was completed in 2013 and provides single and multi-family housing units to an area desperate for adequate housing to meet the needs of the growing workforce.
Tioga, North Dakota was grappling with an explosive population growth. Roadway construction, utilities expansion, and basic services development were all occurring simultaneously. Developers were competing for building materials and quick responses from the city. Westwood brought extensive knowledge to the project, which helped it to progress smoothly, despite a challenging environment.
Knowledge Advances Project
Westwood’s history as a residential development consultant contributed to the advancement of the project by helping the city during a time when decisions were being made reactively rather than a proactively. Developments of this magnitude were new to the area, and the team’s experience with similar types of projects brought considerable knowledge to the process and kept Olson Estates on track. The project team’s success at meeting the demands of the project for the client secured future work in the Bakken.
