Principal Engineer - Electrical

Doug is a professional electrical engineer, director of Westwood's electrical engineering service group, and a shareholder of the firm. With more than 20 years of experience, Doug's electrical engineering background is diverse, having experience with a variety of industries including renewable energy generation, energy storage, mass transportation facilities, campus environments, processing plants, industrial, commercial, educational, corporate, medical, retail, and manufacturing facilities. Doug joined Westwood in 2012 to lead electrical engineering efforts associated with wind, solar PV, and energy storage facilities of all sizes across the country, in US territories, and Australia. His projects range from as small as a 2-kW solar canopy with an EV charging station or 10-kW rooftop mounted wind turbine system connected behind the meter up to utility-scale facilities over 300 MW in size interconnected at the transmission level and everything between including projects with energy storage systems.
 
Prior to joining Westwood, Doug was involved in designing facilities that achieved LEED Certification and facilities compliant with various states’ energy codes. In addition, he was heavily involved with client energy efficiency initiatives, charged with evaluating new and existing electrical energy-saving technologies, review of test installation metered data, integration of successful technologies into client design standards, and implementation of energy-saving technologies.
