To the south, Eastmark Development’s main entrance sits prominently at a point where two parkways meet. The client envisioned this intersection to offer a glimpse into The Eastmark Great Park ® and provide a neighborhood focal point which would create charm and interest by design.
Combining Aesthetics with Functionality
The Westwood-designed Palm Plaza is a 60’-wide x 350’-long urban plaza lined with 35’ palm trees, draped with colorful canopies to provide visual appeal and shade. Beginning at the intersection of the parkways, the long, inviting Palm Plaza walkway leads the eye to the community center and splash pad. At night, creative lighting along the plaza and around the splash pad adds interest and offers safe passage.
Eastmark’s Splash Pad is situated at the inside edge of the park’s Palm Plaza. As with many amenities in The Eastmark Great Park ®, Westwood designed the splash pad to become a primary attraction for young and old.
In addition to offering great fun to Eastmark residents, the 20’ x 50’ splash pad design utilizes state-of-the-art technology. The multitude of spray nozzles are custom designed with three-color LED lighting and can be programmed with a variety of spray heights. The special nozzles have a fraction-of-a-second cutoff and provide a fluid art sculpture as the water appears to float through the air. All of the water is recycled through a complex filtering system and any runoff is captured and diverted to the adjacent stream to be used for irrigation.
