Meet New Westwood Associate Mark Anderson
Get to know our newest associates! We are excited to have them on our team and helping to lead Westwood forward. The associate designation at Westwood represents a team member who provides considerable value to the firm through their leadership traits and technical expertise.
Mark Anderson, Director, Wind Power at Westwood, is a 2021 associate. He joins 25 of his colleagues in earning the distinction given to employees who demonstrate our values and leadership capabilities.
Mark is based in Westwood’s Denver, Colorado, office. Mark sees being named an associate as not only recognition but more so, a leadership role. “While being an associate for Westwood is recognition for contributions to the company, it is also a responsibility to provide leadership, support, and be an example to all teams,” says Mark.
Mark shows commitment to being a strong role model of a Westwood employee in his daily interactions with clients and teams. He says, “I attended the annual Power Summit when I first started here, and we identified traits of a strong Westwood employee. Some traits listed were: client-focused, shows initiative, dedicated, calm, efficient, attentive to detail, and a good communicator.”
He continues, “I continually keep this list in mind and work hard to exhibit these traits as an example to the wider Westwood team.”
Working in the renewable energy industry excites Mark and motivates him and his team to help make a positive impact on their communities and the world. “What stands out the most about both Westwood and the renewable energy industry is our commitment to improving our world for everyone. Making a positive impact on the world is the driving force for so many of my teammates in everything they do,” says Mark.
Westwood’s “solutions for your success” mission inspires Mark to be solutions-driven for clients, his teammates, and the communities he serves. “I love the simple, yet powerful mission message. In these four words, we lay out so much of what drives us. Every solution should drive towards success for our projects, our clients, our teams, our communities, and our world,” says Mark.
One of Mark's biggest honors has been growing Westwood’s Denver, Colorado, office location. He says, “The Denver office opened with only four employees in 2018. In 2021, we celebrated exceeding 55 employees." Westwood also recently established an office in Englewood, Colorado through the acquisition of CVL Consultants of Colorado.
He continues, “Our team’s dedication to relationships, innovation, and initiative has allowed us to create a healthy office culture that can grow to support our clients.”
Mark’s advice for Westwood employees early in their career is to learn from those around you. He says, “Look for that one special trait in your coworkers, other teams, your clients, and experienced staff that makes them good at what they do. Consider if that is a trait you can emulate and grow within yourself. Learning from others will help you grow into a well-rounded team member.”
