• Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects
• Due diligence and site investigation
• Site design including facility plan & profile, cross sections, grading and erosion control plans, and stormwater management facilities.

• Analysis of existing delivery routes to determine existing road conditions.

• Construction document production support for commercial and utility scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects 
• Coordinate with design team disciplines including civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors 
• Utilize AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs. Construction documents will include site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, one lines, details, equipment/wire schedules, etc. 
• Create wiring/cable schedules based on takeoffs and sizing input from senior and staff designers/engineers 
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standards

This position will help expand our Texas markets, including Houston. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead and develop and grow our local practice, driving excellence, innovation, and efficiency.

• Conduct detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for Transportation (TxDOT, Municipal, County) projects, focusing on drainage infrastructure such as culverts, bridges, storm sewer systems, open channels and bar ditches.
• Perform scour analysis and floodplain impact studies to assess and mitigate the risks of erosion and flooding.
• Develop and review drainage design plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with TxDOT, Municipal, and County standards and relevant environmental regulations.
• Utilized design software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MicroStation, GeoPak Drainage) to create efficient, accurate designs.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, roadway, and environmental engineers, to integrate drainage designs into larger transportation projects.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations to project teams and clients on drainage-related issues and solutions.
• Manage and review project documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with TxDOT and local (municipal, county) standards.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates and schedules for drainage components of transportation projects.
• Support field teams during project inspections and construction phases, ensuring adherence to design specifications.

• Executes land development civil engineering projects efficiently (meets schedules and budgets)
• Supports land development civil teams to produce civil plan sets.
• Effectively manages internal support teams (survey, traffic, hydrology and hydraulics, etc.) – able to communicate/manage technical details as well as schedules and budgets.
• Implements QA/QC program and ensures compliance within project team.
• Works with City/County staff for approval of project plans.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources through differing project stages.
• Administers the construction services portions of projects including RFI response, site meetings with contractors, etc.
• Effectively leads up to five (5) assigned technical personnel including:
  • Assigns and oversees project assignments;
  • Reviews work for accuracy and completeness;
  • Trains staff in civil engeering design and CAD/Civil3D;
  • Recommends compensation adjustments and/or promotions.

The compensation for this position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualification. Additionally, this is bonus-eligible position, offering further potential for financial recognition based on performance and company success. 

• Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D
• Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
• Preparation of entitlement documents in support of Tentative Maps, Vacations, Zone Changes, Entitlements, etc.
• Calculation of quantities using Microsoft Excel and justification letters using Microsoft Word
• Assist with construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D including grading plans; plan and profiles; construction details; storm drain, water and sewer facilities; signage and striping plan

WindDesign and Development

• Assist in the design and development of Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with the Civil Engineering Project Lead to create detailed design plans, specifications, and technical documentation for BESS projects.

Technical Analysis

• Conduct technical design related to Wind design, including site design, feasibility studies, and performance evaluations.
• Utilize engineering software (Civil 3D) and tools to design Wind sites.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, and environmental engineers, to integrate BESS design.
• Support project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure the integrity BESS designs.
• Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

• Maintain effective communication with clients, addressing any technical inquiries or concerns related to BESS projects.

Field Support

• Support field activities during the construction and implementation phases of BESS projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and resolve any engineering issues that arise as needed or requested by the client.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to BESS and renewable energy.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions.

• Lead a team in the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
• Prepare plan documents, technical reports and supporting design calculations
