The Substation P&C Engineer serves as an engineer on electric substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. He/she will apply NESC, NEC, and other applicable codes and standards in the engineering design and will also independently produce: one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, potential and current schematics, control schematics, alarm schematics, protection and control specifications, and I/O mapping. He/she should be familiar with protection scheme functionality. The ability to develop relay settings and associated points mapping is not required but preferred. He/she will also work with other internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations of contracted services are met. Senior Electrical Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our renewables team. The position is responsible for managing the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be the primary electrical contact for clients and will oversee the electrical design budget for projects to ensure budgets are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar projects, ensuring adherence to project budgets.
• Verify the incorporation of contractual electrical engineering scope into design and coordinate change orders with project managers.
• Insure project deliverable schedules for electrical engineering scope are met.
• Assist project managers in responding to RFPs by preparing proposal scope and fees for the electrical engineering.
• Coordinate with other project disciplines, including civil engineers, geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyors.
• Schedule and plan necessary resources needed to support projects on a weekly basis.
• Perform and lead electrical engineering design and creation of construction documents for projects.
• Oversee project electrical team resources and be responsible for staff performing electrical calculations and studies.
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement officers.
• Perform QA/QC of design work performed on projects for which you are the lead electrical engineer.
• Maintain awareness of currently available equipment and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with and support electrical engineering teams in other offices as projects and workload sharing between offices dictates.
• Support construction of projects by responding to contractor and owner requests, including RFIs and submittal review.
• Assist Market Directors as needed for marketing efforts and creation of marketing materials surrounding electrical engineering work.
• Supervise, train, and mentor graduate engineers, staff engineers, and design technicians.

This position will be responsible for designing elements of utility-scale solar energy systems, primarily using AutoCAD. You'll be utilizing AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs. Including site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, one lines, details, equipment/wire schedules, etc.

• Create wiring/cable schedules based takeoffs and sizing input from senior designers/engineers
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standards

This individual is also be expected to serve as an Engineer of Record for Projects and Designee for Westwood COA where required by states where licensed for. As an Electrical Engineering manager – Solar the individual would be responsible for addressing concerns/issues from Market leaders and or Clients/Owners related to the service. This individual would support continual process improvement and be responsible for standards and QA/QC Documentation. This individual would also be responsible for coordinating utilization and workload between offices and services/subservices to balance/prioritize workload.
