The position is for a lead electrical engineer to design solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, which includes: plant layout, selecting appropriate system hardware, system optimization, determining power generation and interconnection requirements, and being the client and internal leader for the electrical engineering of projects. As Lead Electrical Engineer the individual will coordinate with the Westwood Service Leaders and Director, of Electrical Engineering to maintain firm standards and consistency as well as oversee other electrical designers. This position may also include supervision responsibilities of direct reports for timesheet/expense/PTO approval, annual growth planning, disciplinary actions, and compensation annual adjustments.

Electrical Graduate Engineer

The Electrical Graduate Engineer will be a part of our Renewables Division. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Technician to join our renewables team in our Madison, WI office. This position will be responsible for designing elements of utility-scale solar energy systems, primarily using AutoCAD. You'll be utilizing AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs. Including site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, one lines, details, equipment/wire schedules, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Construction document production support for commercial and utility scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
• Coordinate with design team disciplines including civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors
• Utilize AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs. Construction documents will include site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, one lines, details, equipment/wire schedules, etc.
• Create wiring/cable schedules based takeoffs and sizing input from senior designers/engineers
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standards

This position will assist Professional Surveyors with CAD production, boundary analysis, research, legal description and easement preparation, deliverables review, computations, and adherence to specific state statutes. This position will work under the responsible charge of a Professional Land Surveyor.   

Electrical Engineering Manager - Solar

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager - Solar to support our Renewables Division. The position is for an engineering manager to oversee design teams for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems design. This individual is also be expected to serve as an Engineer of Record for Projects and Designee for Westwood COA where required by states where licensed for. As an Electrical Engineering manager – Solar the individual would be responsible for addressing concerns/issues from Market leaders and or Clients/Owners related to the service. This individual would support continual process improvement and be responsible for standards and QA/QC Documentation. This individual would also be responsible for coordinating utilization and workload between offices and services/subservices to balance/prioritize workload. 

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Transmission Line design staff and operations.
• Manages resource balancing and forecasting across various clients and projects.
• Manages the development of the supervisory staff and principal engineers through mentoring and hands-on instruction.
• Manage and provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives to improve efficiencies, quality of product, and marketing opportunities.
• Evaluate the performance and development of technical and supervisory staff.
• Collaborate with Division Leadership to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures which reflect best engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Division Leadership to develop new client opportunities and capture market share.
• Collaborate with other departments and divisions on company-wide initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with our existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential future clients.

• Site Engineering design of utility scale wind, solar projects and battery storage.
• Engineering design includes: array grading, road grading, road plan and profile, turbine pad grading, facility grading, stormwater crossing design, cross sections, erosion control plans, utility crossing, and storm water management facilities
• Due diligence and site investigation
• Quantity take-offs and cost estimates
• Preparation of specifications and details
• Preparation of permit applications
• Construction administration
• Design and production in AutoCAD Civil 3D software
• Day-to-day support in developing the engineering design and plan production of renewable projects.
• Other duties as assigned by the Lead Engineer.

• Create project reports, maintain CRM/ERP/customer database, client reporting systems, etc.
• Develop work plans and project schedules within Project or P6
• Assist Project Managers with project integration, communications, and team coordination
• Coordinate meetings, documentation, and resources
• Perform budget/billing/reporting maintenance and tasks
• Maintain files, records, and correspondence
