He/she will also work with other internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations of contracted services are met. Duties and Responsibilities

Performs all aspects of design for high voltage (4kV – 230kV) and EHV (above 230kV) substation projects to include:

Development of:

• Protection and Control Specifications
• Relay Settings
• Event Analysis

Studies

• Short Circuit
• Relay Coordination
• CT Saturation
• Other power system studies

Perform QA/QC

• One-Line Diagrams
• Three-Line Diagrams
• Current and Potential Schematics
• Control Schematics
• Alarm Schematics

Technical Support

• Procurement
• Construction (Testing and Commissioning)

Active Coordination

• Ability to work seamlessly with and provide guidance to the P&C Design team in their development of the above-listed items
• Ability to provide technical support to field personnel, responsible for applying and testing relay settings
• Ability to coordinate efforts with all project team members by identifying coordination needs within specific disciplines (i.e., protection and control design engineers, transmission line engineers, distribution line engineers, telecom engineers, etc.)

Support Consistency

Support Business

• Provides transparent and honest feedback to the project team (i.e., external stakeholders, clients, etc.)
• Helps develop approaches to accommodate unique client requests.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a collaborative, detail orientated Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join a growing energy consulting firm. The Substation Designer would work with our growing Substation Engineering Team to prepare schematic and associated wiring diagrams for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections. The position would require the employee to work with engineers and consultants to create these drawings. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Computer aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.

• Self-checks all work performed to ensure its accuracy prior to turning it over to the supervisor or designee assigned to review the work.
• Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements.
• Complete drawings accurately and efficiently.
• Detailed and quality oriented.
• Able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in projects.
• Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence, Microsoft Teams communications, attending meetings, and other project documents required for project completion.

He/she will apply NESC, NEC, and other applicable codes and standards in the engineering design and will also independently produce: one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, potential and current schematics, control schematics, alarm schematics, protection and control specifications, and I/O mapping. He/she should be familiar with protection scheme functionality. The ability to develop relay settings and associated points mapping is not required but preferred. He/she will also work with other internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations of contracted services are met. The Substation Designer - Physical will prepare civil and physical electrical drawings for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections. The position would require the employee to work with engineers and consultants to create these drawings. • Computer-Aided Design and Drafting: Create and draft all engineering products and deliverables using CAD software, specifically for substation projects.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other drafters to identify and correct discrepancies in drawings and designs related to substations.
• Drafting Tasks: Produce various types of drawings specific to substations, including:
• General Arrangements of substation layouts
• Plan Views and Elevation Views of substation structures
• Grounding Plans and Details for substation grounding systems
• Foundation Plans and Details for substation equipment
• Cable Trough/Conduit Plans and Details for cable management
• Foundation Layout Plans for substation components
• Import tables and calculations (e.g., BOMs) and create notes for each drawing.
