Westwood is a rapidly growing, multi-disciplined engineering, surveying and environmental firm that provides services across the country for the development of land and energy projects. This position offers the opportunity to perform and direct field studies, desktop reviews, technical studies, and project permitting to a variety of private renewable energy and land development clients. The successful candidate will seek opportunities for growth and work on a variety of development projects across the country. We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm about his/her work, and with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. This individual will directly oversee and conduct projects in a team environment, supporting existing cultural resource staff at times and working independently at other times. There will be additional emphasis on cultivating new regional clients and business development. 

• The successful candidate will have experience with background research, field surveys and technical report preparation. There will also be focus on business development as we grow Cultural Resources services throughout the region.
• The position requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to independently conduct project tasks. Typical tasks include:
  • Cultural resources file reviews
  • Assessing site risk profiles
  • Drafting proposals and work plans
  • Leading document preparation in a team environment
  • Preparing or supervising the preparation of cultural resource technical reports

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Physical Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team.  The primary functions of this role are to lead the substation Physical engineering and design efforts for large scale, transmission-interconnected renewable energy projects and provide leadership and mentorship to a Physical design team consisting of three to five engineers and/or designers.  

The Lead Physical Engineer will work with (and provide direction to) other engineers, designers, and drafters to develop project deliverables that satisfy all stakeholder requirements and comply with applicable codes & standards.  As part of the broader multi-discipline Substation Team, the Lead Physical Engineer will work with the Substation Project Engineer and other discipline leads to ensure design documents are coordinated and consistent between the P&C and Civil/Structural teams.

We are seeking an Engineer who shares our passion for high-quality production, client commitment, and a fast-paced work environment. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team and be responsible for compiling civil design plan sets alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets, where clear and concise written and verbal communication is imperative. The Senior Engineer, Power Distribution is primarily responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective engineering solutions to upgrade, expand, maintain, and automate overhead and underground power distribution systems for clients across the United States. Ensuring compliance with client procedures, design standards, and applicable state and federal regulatory and safety requirements, this role operates with a high degree of technical independence while actively supporting the Lead Engineer in managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.

With 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, the Senior Engineer serves as a technical authority and subject matter expert within the distribution design team, mentors mid-level engineers, conducts peer reviews, and collaborates cross-functionally with substation, transmission, renewable energy, power storage, and communications design teams. This role also carries meaningful client relationship responsibilities — maintaining trusted relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities to grow the firm's distribution practice.
