The System Protection Engineer works on electric substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. He/she will apply their engineering knowledge and experience to fulfill the principal duties and responsibilities listed below. He/she will also work with other internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations of contracted services are met. The Senior Substation Engineer – Protection and Controls will be part of an electric substation design team and will be responsible for the engineering and design of multiple projects ranging from small, fast-paced assignments to large, complex substations. This position provides the opportunity to directly apply advanced engineering knowledge to protection and control system designs for facilities ranging from 12kV to 500kV.

As a Senior Substation Engineer – P&C, you will apply NESC, NEC, IEEE, and other applicable standards in engineering design and independently develop protection and control schemes, including relay logic, system coordination concepts, and detailed design deliverables such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic documentation. You will also support equipment specification, material procurement, and development of construction documentation, ensuring designs are reliable, compliant, and aligned with project and client requirements.

The Lead Substation Engineer - P&C serves as an engineer on electric substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing the entirety of planning, procurement, design, construction, supplemental services, and project closeout processes for renovation and new construction projects. The PM performs a broad range of tasks with the focus of keeping projects on schedule and on budget. The PM produces accurate and timely reports on project development and execution for all relevant parties. The PM serves as the representative coordinating all parties to ensure the successful completion of projects. Assuming the projects assigned to the PM are funded through a federally funded program, the PM will track grant eligible and ineligible expenses throughout the life of the project. The PM provides detailed and timely reports on progress and status of the project and provides expert advice and assistance on complex project execution issues, coordinate their resolution, and perform other assignments as required.
