The primary function of this role is to lead the Substation P&C Engineering and Design efforts for large scale, transmission-interconnected renewable energy projects. The P&C Engineer will work with (and provide direction to) other engineers, designers, and drafters to develop project deliverables that satisfy all stakeholder requirements and comply with applicable codes & standards. As part of the broader multi-discipline Substation Team, the P&C Engineer will work with the Substation Project Engineer and other discipline leads to ensure design documents are coordinated and consistent between the Physical, Civil/Structural, Relay Settings, and SCADA teams.

We are open to a qualified candidate(s) in our Minnetonka, MN; St. Cloud, MN; Appleton, WI; Madison, WI; Plano TX; Baton Rouge LZ, and New Orleans LA office. Westwood is a rapidly growing, multi-disciplined engineering, surveying and environmental firm that provides services across the country for the development of land and energy projects. This position offers the opportunity to perform and direct field studies, desktop reviews, technical studies, and project permitting to a variety of private renewable energy and land development clients. The Lead Transmission Engineer is primarily responsible for supervising a staff of technical designers and engineers responsible for the development of engineering designs, cost estimates, and communication of technical and design information to our customers. The supervisor manages and evaluates the performance of assigned technical staff and proactively initiates measures to correct instances of work product not meeting established quality standards. The Transmission Engineering Supervisor ensures compliance with client procedures, design standards, state and federal regulatory requirements, and safety code requirements and, at times, will collaborate closely with engineers performing substation, transmission, renewable energy, power storage, and communication design.

Substation Designer – P&C

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a collaborative, detail orientated Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join a growing energy consulting firm. The Substation Designer would work with our growing Substation Engineering Team to prepare schematic and associated wiring diagrams for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections. The position would require the employee to work with engineers and consultants to create these drawings. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Computer aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.

• Single Line Drawings
• Three Line Drawings
• Current and Potential Schematics
• Protection and Control Schematics

• Importation of tables and calculations such as BOMs as well as creating notes to be applied to each drawing.
• Self-checks all work performed to ensure its accuracy prior to turning it over to the supervisor or designee assigned to review the work.
• Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements.
• Complete drawings accurately and efficiently.
• Detailed and quality oriented.
• Able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in projects.
• Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence, Microsoft Teams communications, attending meetings, and other project documents required for project completion.

Lead Electrical Engineer

 Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Battery Energy Storage team. The position is for a lead electrical engineer to design battery energy storage systems (BESS), which includes: site electrical design, power conversion system (PCS) and battery management system (BMS) integration, medium and high voltage interconnection design, auxiliary power systems, protection and control schemes, and being the client and internal leader for the electrical engineering of projects. As Lead Electrical Engineer, the individual will coordinate with the Westwood Service Leaders and Director of Electrical Engineering to maintain firm standards and consistency as well as oversee other electrical designers. This position may also include supervision responsibilities of direct reports for timesheet/expense/PTO approval, annual growth planning, disciplinary actions, and compensation annual adjustments.
