Varun Chhibbar, P.Eng

Varun leads the firm's substation portfolio with a focus on market strategy, client engagement, pursuit execution, revenue growth, and design quality. With more than 20 years of experience in power systems, Varun brings extensive expertise in high voltage AC, HVDC, FACTS, and substation infrastructure supporting utility, renewable, and industrial clients.

Throughout his career, Varun has held leadership positions with Hatch, Burns & McDonnell, Hitachi Energy, ABB, and AltaLink. His experience spans the full power systems lifecycle, including protection and control, digital substations, IEC 61850, SCADA integration, cybersecurity, commissioning, and grid modernization. He served as technical lead on major energized HVDC projects, including the 500 kV, 1000 MW Western Alberta Transmission Line, overseeing technical strategy, lifecycle planning, and replacement initiatives.
