Westwood Expands Public Infrastructure Presence in Houston
Westwood continues to expand its Public Infrastructure presence in the Houston region in response to rapid growth and increasing project activity across the market. With a population of over 2.3 million, a regional GDP of nearly $700 billion, a globally significant energy sector, and the nation’s largest port, Houston is a vital market for infrastructure investment and a key hub for Westwood’s public infrastructure work. This drives the need to scale leadership and talent to support a growing portfolio of complex, high-impact infrastructure projects.
To support this momentum, Michel Maksoud will lead business development and regional expansion efforts in the Houston area. In this role, Michel will work closely with teams across disciplines to support active projects, strengthen client relationships, and enhance Westwood’s capabilities in transportation, water infrastructure, program management, and integrated public infrastructure delivery.
“Houston is experiencing sustained infrastructure demand, and Westwood is already deeply engaged in helping clients deliver critical projects across the region,” said Dean Palumbo, Chief Operations Officer at Westwood. “Michel’s strong local relationships and leadership roles with organizations such as the North Houston Association, the Alliance for I-69 Texas, and the Highway 36A Coalition enable us to scale effectively and continue meeting the needs of a rapidly growing market.”
Westwood’s growth in Houston is part of a broader national strategy to expand leadership capacity, strengthen technical expertise, and support an increasing volume of public sector work. To further support this growth, the firm is establishing two new national senior leadership roles within Public Infrastructure: Transportation Leader and Water Infrastructure Leader. These positions are designed to drive our national expansion and support active projects, enhance collaboration, and ensure technical excellence.
By investing in leadership, talent, and local market expertise, Westwood is positioning itself to meet Houston’s accelerating infrastructure needs and deliver on the projects already shaping the region’s future. Westwood’s expanding footprint reflects the strength of our existing work in the region and our commitment to delivering resilient, innovative, and integrated infrastructure solutions that keep pace with Houston’s continued growth.
