Higher Education
Our team understands the complexities of working on higher education projects. Whether a renovation or new construction, we aim to minimize campus disruptions, keep students and staff safe, and phase construction with campus activities. Our goal is to integrate the project into the existing fabric of the campus rather than focusing only on a specific project site. This allows each project to complement the surrounding areas and preserve the strong heritage and traditions many campuses have developed. We focus on innovative and sustainable design solutions that provide practicality and long-term functionality.
At Westwood, our site designers look to incorporate sustainable design elements within a campus site project and meet the client's needs. These elements may include shared parking agreements, designated EV parking spaces, implementation of solar panels, and integrated green space.
Campus landscapes embody an institution's rich history developed over time. Our in-house landscape architects understand this tradition and strive to create a sense of place for each building that fits seamlessly within the overall campus-built environment style. They create active and passive outdoor spaces using public art, science gardens, way-finding signs, conservation, and sustainability measures.
As college campuses grow and infrastructure ages, public and private universities must consider resilient planning. Our engineers have diverse expertise allowing us to develop resilience programs and design principles, which may include but are not limited to water resources, water/wastewater, traffic, environmental, and landscape planning.
